AI Beauty Radar

MYA's recurring rendezvous on beauty brand visibility in AI, produced with Matahari. At every big shopping moment, MYA asks AI the questions customers really ask and ranks the brands it recommends. Born from our talk at CEW France. Target rhythm: one issue every two months.

Dry and reactive winter skin

Dry skin, reactive skin, hands and lips, body, mature skin: which brands do ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude recommend against the cold?

Each issue is run with the model versions available at the time of testing. Issue #1 was tested on 1 April 2026 on ChatGPT (GPT-5.3 Instant) and Gemini (Gemini 2.5 Flash). As models evolve regularly, presence rates should be read as a snapshot of brand visibility at each test date, rather than as strictly comparable metrics from one issue to the next.

How to read the Radar

The Radar starts from questions, not brands. We do not measure the whole universe of beauty: we measure what customers really ask AI about a specific shopping moment.

The indicator is the presence rate: the share of the prompts in a universe in which a brand appears, as a mention or a recommendation. It builds on MYA's V.M.R. methodology (Visible, Mentioned, Recommended). Each prompt is tested in a new conversation, in French, on the French market, and only the first answer is kept. Since issue #2, the Radar also measures first mention, the brand named first in each answer: a recommendation signal, not an explicit recommendation. The Radar does not show the sources behind these results; that is the role of the AI Brand Echo diagnostic.

The constant lesson of the first issues: AIs do not recommend the same brands. A visibility strategy has to speak to each of them. MYA has worked on Google's AI Overviews since their launch in Spain in March 2025, more than a year before they reached France in July 2026.

The Radar in questions

What is the AI Beauty Radar?

It is MYA's recurring barometer of beauty brand visibility in generative AI, produced with Matahari. Each issue covers a major shopping moment, tests several AIs with the same questions customers ask, and ranks brands by presence rate. The target rhythm is one issue every two months.

What is the presence rate?

It is the share of the prompts in a shopping universe in which a brand appears in an AI's answer, as a simple mention or a recommendation. A rate of 50% means the brand is named in one answer out of two.

Are Radar issues comparable with each other?

Not strictly. Each issue is a snapshot of the AIs at its test date, with the model versions used at that time. Recent issues rely on more recent models than issue #1. The lessons (gaps between AIs, universes, brands) can be read across issues; scores should be compared with caution.

What does “first mention” mean?

It is the share of the prompts in a universe in which a brand is the first one named in an AI's answer. The presence rate measures the Mentioned level of the V.M.R. methodology; first mention is a recommendation signal, stronger than simple presence. It does not mean the AI explicitly claims to recommend the brand. A wide gap between the two flags a brand that AIs know but rarely put forward.

How are brands ranked?

Prompts are worded the way customers phrase them (gift idea, budget, profile, comparison, review). Each prompt is asked in a new conversation, only the first answer is kept, then analysed with the V.M.R. methodology (Visible, Mentioned, Recommended).

What about your brand?

The Radar shows which brands AIs put forward. The AI Brand Echo diagnostic explains why, on your brand's own queries.
